Conflict is an inherent aspect of human nature. Conflicts can be resolved only through negotiation. Negotiation is the craft that future leaders will inevitably need. This discipline encompasses a blend of many skills. You must master the ability to communicate and build connections, you need leadership competencies, you should know your friends, allies, rivals, and opponents, and you must be able to construct invisible bridges between them. Consensus is a long and complex process.
Together with Ana Khurtsidze—the Dean of the School of Law at the University of Georgia, a UN Global Panel mediator, and the elected President of INADR (the International Academy of Dispute Resolution)—you will study the Art of Negotiation.
As a result of this course, you will learn:
How to build step-by-step a conversation plan
How to bring the parties closer together
How to find the other side’s real needs and use smart trade-offs
How to manage difficult situations and find calm tactics for tense moments
How to say “no” to prevent negotiations from failing without burning bridges
